We're offering a preconfigured Linux Player image based on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS, which can be installed on any compatible hardware.

You'll need a bootable medium (e.g. a DVD, external hard drive, or preferably an USB stick) with at least 4 GB, better 8 GB of space. Your future sklera player should have 20 to 30 GB of space available to accomodate the installation and any downloaded content.

  1. Download our ISO image to your local hard drive.

  2. Create bootable medium. On Windows, you can use Rufus to accomplish this. Under Ubuntu you can use Startup Disk Creator tool. But any tool able to create bootable media will do.
WARNING: Creating a bootable medium will irrevocably erase any current data on the targeted device.

  3. Once the bootable medium has been created, remove it from your PC and connect it to your sklera player hardware. Ensure that you have a mouse and possibly keyboard attached to the hardware as well.

  4. Power on your hardware and boot from your bootable medium (you may need to configure the boot order in the devices BIOS/UEFI settings).

  5. The automated installation process should launch. Wait until completion.

  6. Once the installation is complete, configure date & time as well as WiFi connection information if applicable.
Reboot the device and your done! The sklera player should start automatically henceforth.

Intel NUC devices have proven to be reliable platforms for our Linux player image, but any PC hardware able to install Linux will likely do.

Please consider what content you want to display when choosing PC/NUC hardware and the attached display. The higher resolution your content is, the more powerful hardware you'll require for smooth playback.
