Google is stopping support of ChromeApps for Windows and Linux starting with Chrome 83 in mid-2020.

This necessitates a migration of Chrome App based sklera players to another platform. We offer a Electron based player for Windows and Linux.

Please note that you will need a sklera CMS user in the role of manager or higher to complete all required steps.

  • Step 1: Uninstall the ChromeApp Player. Open Chrome if it is closed and enter chrome://apps in your address bar.
Then, right click on the sklera app icon and choose 'Remove from Chrome'.

ALTERNATIVELY you can navigate to Chromes' menu, More Tools->Extensions and remove the sklera App this way.

  • Step 2: Install the Electron Player. The exact steps to install and configure the player can be found in the related helpdesk article:
    Windows
  • Step 3: Launch the Electron Player and wait for the pairing code to appear.
  • Step 4: Navigate to the sklera CMS and the Screens menu.
  • Step 5: Edit the ChromeApp based screen in your screen list. Further down in the settings you'll find a link titled 'Replace screen'. Clicking on it prompts you to enter a pairing code.
  • Step 6: Enter the pairing code displayed by the Electron Player and confirm.

Done! Repeat the steps for every ChromeApp Player you run.

The Screens you replace will retain their playlists and organizational data you have entered. The only thing changing is which physical screen is associated with sklera.
